Ukraine is to join the implementation of the European digital wallet

The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine presented the Diia application at the founding meeting of the international digital identification consortium POTENTIAL in Paris. The application was presented as a candidate for recognition as one of the official implementations of the European digital wallet.

During the presentations, the participants of the forum repeatedly noted Ukraine as a state that, despite the challenges of the war, is making significant progress in digitization on the way to the EU. A state received a special award from the French Minister of Digital Technologies, Jean-Noel Barro.

The POTENTIAL (PilOTs for European Digital Identity Wallet) consortium unites 19 European countries and aims to improve citizens' access to reliable and secure electronic identification means and services. Today, the consortium is working on the development of a European digital wallet – a mobile product that will allow people to store their identification data (eID) and conveniently use and share it both within their own country and abroad for various types of services.

EU digital wallet will provide the opportunity to conveniently and safely open a bank account online, access driver's licenses on the phone, use an electronic signature and receive electronic medical prescriptions.

The POTENTIAL consortium supports both national and cross-border implementation of the new European digital identity wallet.

The participation of the Ministry of Digital Transformation in the EU Digital Identity Wallet pilot project is supported by the European Union within the framework of the DT4UA project implemented by the Estonian eGovernance Academy.
